’International Chinese Teaching Starts from Here: Case Study and Analysis of International Chinese Teaching in Primary and Secondary Schools”

Published by the Peking University Press, this book has been edited by the Singapore Chinese Language Proficiency Test Center (Crestar) / Confucius Classroom (Crestar), Singapore. It is a project of the “Chinese Bridge Fund” specially sponsored by Hanban / Confucius Institute Headquarters of China and contains a preface written by Professor Joel Bellassen, Vice-President of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching, Professor of Chinese at Institut National des Langueset Civilisations Orientales and General Inspector of National Education for the Chinese Language, Ministry of Education, France.

This publication contains 60 factual teaching cases from 14 countries, including Singapore, the United States, China, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand, etc. The first 10 are invited works written by Heads of Chinese Department and senior Chinese teachers from various international schools in Singapore. The other 50 are excellent works from the Global Teaching Case Essay Contest.

As the highlight of this book, the editor-in-chief has specially invited Dr. Wang Xiaoping and Mrs. Zhu Wenhong, who have rich experience in Chinese teaching and management in international schools, to provide their expert insights on each of the 50 entries of the competition opening up new perspectives for readers.

The book has been organized into different themes based on the syllabus of “Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Language”. This helps the readers, especially those who are new in International Chinese Teaching, adapt quickly and apply knowledge and insights to the Certificate Examination and teaching practice.

Since its publication in June 2019, the book has been well-received among professionals. International schools have used it to train new teachers, and universities have used it as a reference for undergraduate and graduate Chinese international education courses.
