Confucius Institute (Crestar) Singapore successfully organized a learning exchange program in Shanghai, China between June 2 to 8, 2025. The participants included a delegation of principals from Singapore and Malaysia, as well as Singaporean secondary school students and were hosted by East China Normal University (ECNU).

During the trip, the principals’ delegation visited Yew Chung International School of Shanghai, SAIC Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd., and toured cultural and historic sites such as Yu Garden, Shanghai Museum, and the scenic Huangpu River waterfront. The principals experienced the unique charm of Shanghai-style culture, witnessed the vigorous development of contemporary Chinese technology, education, and culture, and through in-depth exchanges and visits, sowed the seeds for future international educational cooperation.

Meanwhile, the Singaporean students gained immensely from their summer camp experience. Through distinctive classes such as Shanghainese (local dialect) lessons, calligraphy practice, and Kunqu opera appreciation, as well as field trips to cultural landmarks like Yu Garden, they transformed textbook knowledge of Chinese culture into vivid and memorable experiences. This immersive learning journey opened a window for the students to better understand contemporary China and inspired a deeper enthusiasm and confidence in learning and loving the Chinese language.
