Crestar Confucius Institute, Singapore
Promoting Chinese Culture & Language

Crestar Confucius Institute evolved from the former Crestar Confucius Classroom, which was jointly established in 2012 by Crestar Education Group and the then Confucius Institute Headquarters in Singapore. Its founding created a new platform for people from all walks of life in Singapore to learn the Chinese language and culture, enhance international exchanges, and promote friendship and development. With the authorization of the Chinese International Education Foundation (CIEF), East China Normal University (ECNU) and Crestar Education Group began co-establishing the Crestar Confucius Classroom in 2021. During this period, the partnership between Crestar Confucius Classroom and ECNU launched a range of collaborative initiatives, including the Doctoral Program in International Chinese Language Education, the International Baccalaureate Educator Certificate (IBEC) Program, and the Online International Symposium Series, forming an innovative model of coordinated development that integrates professionalization and internationalization in the digital era.
In 2025, with the approval of the Chinese International Education Foundation, Crestar Confucius Classroom was officially promoted to Crestar Confucius Institute. The Institute remains committed to its founding mission—to promote and advance Chinese language and culture—and continues to develop towards greater professionalization, digitalization, internationalization, and regional engagement. Its key activities include:
- Periodic organization of international conferences, teaching workshops, and lecture series;
- Year-round training programs for international Chinese language teachers and various Chinese language learning courses;
- Short-term exchange and immersion programs for teachers and students between Singapore and China;
- Hosting international competitions such as the Chinese Proficiency Contest for the Singapore–Malaysia Region and the International Chinese Language Teaching Skills Competition.
